Kathy Hutchinson and Janessa Dusek of Active Wellness Center in Petaluma, California, joined me to talk about the “predictable physiologic changes” that come with peri- and post-menopause.
Kathy is an exercise physiologist and the Medical Integration Coordinator with Active Wellness Center, with extensive experience in cardiac rehabilitation, Parkinson's disease, and general medical fitness.
Janessa is a personal trainer certified in corrective exercise, pre- and postnatal care, women’s fitness, and senior fitness. She also created the Active Wellness Center's Women's Strength Training Series.
Together, we discussed the physical changes that occur from perimenopause into postmenopause and how to think about resistance training goals, whether you are in your 20s & 30s, 40s, and 50s, or in your postmenopause years.
Kathy and Janessa shared many gems about fitness, listening to your body, and showing up for yourself.
