Welcome to Insight into Health, my radio show on listener-supported KSVY 91.3, where I explore ways to make healthy living realistic, enjoyable, and sustainable. I am your host, Allison McKeany, and these are the show notes for the live radio show that aired on March 23, 2026.

Listen to the episode:

Beyond the What: The Value of Consistency

I began this week’s show by talking about the value of consistency in various lifestyle factors, from eating at consistent times throughout the day and across days to going to bed and waking up at about the same time every day, and even making regular time for trips to the bathroom.

During this segment, I referenced:

Dr. Larry and I worked together nearly 10 years ago and have always enjoyed exploring the intersection between lifestyle and medicine together. Tonight we talked about blood sugar, including:

The complications of chronically elevated blood sugar that Dr. Larry sees in the ER.
His approach for motivating changes in his sick patients by trying to find out “What does it mean to them personally?”
The mechanism behind common symptoms of high blood sugar - excessive thirst, urination, and others.

Awe-Inspiring: The Power of the Human Body & Sunsets

Dr. Larry and I discussed the awe we share for the inner workings of the human body1 and why watching the sunset can help you feel safe & calm.
