Welcome to Insight into Health, my radio show on listener-supported KSVY 91.3, where I explore ways to make healthy living realistic, enjoyable, and sustainable. I am your host, Allison McKeany, and these are the show notes for the live radio show that aired on March 16, 2026.
Listen to the episode:
Beyond the What: Breakfast
Thanks to a listener's question, we talked about building a healthy breakfast. The takeaways are summarized in a piece I published last year on putyourfoodtowork.com titled "The Breakfast Club.”
What is your go-to breakfast?
Let’s Talk: Danielle Azzalino Hodge
We were joined by our neighbor and new friend, who also happens to be the new CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Sonoma Valley. We talked about the many programs going on at the club now, and what is planned for the summer, including new mental health services, free meals, and the growing teen services offerings.
What’s Feeling Alive: Health Halo
Allison got riled up about misleading messaging on food packaging that often leads well-meaning consumers astray — from “natural” (no definition) to “made with real vegetables” (no minimum amount required), to “multigrain” (means there is more than one grain, not necessarily whole grain).
So what can you trust? Not much on the front of a food package. Consumer Reports has a helpful website that shows different seals and claims you might find on the front of a package here.
Other than that, your best bet is to become Nutrition Facts Label savvy. More on that in a couple of weeks.
Thanks for being here,
Allison
