Welcome to Insight into Health, my radio show on listener-supported KSVY 91.3, where I explore ways to make healthy living realistic, enjoyable, and sustainable. I am your host, Allison McKeany, and these are the show notes for the live radio show that aired on June 1, 2026.

Listen to the episode:

I was joined by Porter Brooks, an accomplished celebrity cook and lifestyle television host who now calls Sonoma home.

Listen to the full recording to hear about Porter’s journey from marketing and advertising to “Porter’s Pics” on local KRON 4 to hosting network programming including Entertaining People and Urban Bite.

Good Food on a Budget

Porter and I then talked about the growing food insecurity concerns in our very own community, and Porter shared his favorite resources for getting good, healthy food on a budget:

Flashfood app — offers up to 50% off produce, meat, and more from local grocery stores and restaurants.
Too Good To Go app — helping users rescue good food from going to waste through major discounts at local stores, cafes and restaurants.
Visit farmers’ markets right before closing to get the best deals.
