Welcome to Insight into Health, my radio show on listener-supported KSVY 91.3, where I explore ways to make healthy living realistic, enjoyable, and sustainable. I am your host, Allison McKeany, and these are the show notes for the live radio show that aired on July 20, 2026.

Check out my upcoming events at allisonmckeany.com.

Listen to the episode:

Savory Peach Chutney in the most adorable little crock I’ve ever seen

I was joined, once again, by lifestyle & FOOD TV host, artist, and author, Porter Brooks. For more about Porter, be sure to check out his website, porterbrooks.com, and on socials @theporterbrooks.

We chatted about our favorite produce of the season, my latest gleaning with extrafood.org, and Porter’s tip that will make your bell peppers last into winter — freezing them whole!

I then had my radio first — taste testing some of Porter’s favorite ways to preserve summer’s bounty:

Peach Preserves (like summer in a jar)

Apple Butter

Plum Strawberry Preserves (with a kick!)

Savory Peach Chutney

Spicy Rye Pickles

Pickled Red Onion

Arugula Basil Walnut Pesto (the smoothest pesto I’ve ever had)

We wrapped up talking about art and Porter’s upcoming exhibits:

Now through August: The Passdoor on Sonoma Plaza
Wednesday-Sunday: Gherneke Tasting Room
September Art Walk, Thursday, September 3rd, 5-7 pm: El Dorado Hotel, featuring Three Sticks wines.

For any of the above recipes or to connect with Porter, message him @theporterbrooks on Instagram.

Thanks for being here,

Allison
