Welcome to Insight into Health, my radio show on listener-supported KSVY 91.3, where I explore ways to make healthy living realistic, enjoyable, and sustainable. I am your host, Allison McKeany, and these are the show notes for the live radio show that aired on February 23rd, 2026. My husband, Lyle, was my co-host in the studio this week.
Be sure to check out my upcoming in-person events at the end of this post :)

Let’s Talk: Rachel Glitz, Executive Director of Cancer Support Sonoma
Rachel talked about the evolution of Cancer Support Sonoma, from its beginning as a study into the role of integrative therapies during cancer treatment at Sonoma Valley Hospital, to the nonprofit it is today, where they support individuals with a new cancer diagnosis, as well as those going through treatment, in recovery, or facing the end of life. The many individual and group program options are available on the Cancer Support Sonoma website and include support groups, individual counseling, acupuncture, oncology massage, craniosacral therapy, and more.
I am excited to be offering a free discussion about food, nutrition, and cancer at Cancer Support Sonoma this week. Everyone is welcome; advance registration is requested:
What’s Feeling Alive: Understanding Dreams
Lyle and I have been making our way through a six-part podcast series from my go-to sleep researcher, Matt Walker, on dreams. We talked about the highlights we’ve found interesting at the halfway point in the series. For example, what parts of our brains become activated during REM sleep, the period of sleep when dreams are most likely to occur, while other parts are deactivated. And how dreaming is our brain’s way of processing emotions, almost as if we’re having a therapy session each night.
You can listen to Matt’s series on dreams, starting with part 1 here. And the third installment about dreams and emotions can be found here. Don’t worry, each episode is quite short.
Thanks for being here,
Allison
