Welcome to Insight into Health, my radio show on listener-supported KSVY 91.3, where I explore ways to make healthy living realistic, enjoyable, and sustainable. I am your host, Allison McKeany, Registered Dietitian and Sonoma local.
Listen to the episode:
I was joined by fellow Sonoma Splash Masters swimmers, Dean, Brian, & Keith, who were part of a group of five from the Sonoma Valley who recently competed in the Gay Games 2026, in Valencia, Spain.
The Gay Games started in 1982 in San Francisco to promote diversity and inclusion in sports. This year marked its 12th event, which is held every four years. This year, over 10,000 athletes from 80 countries competed across 39 sports.
We spoke about their individual events, relays, and what the sport of swimming, as well as events like this, mean to each one of them.
I was then joined by Bob Rudorf and Amelia Belle, volunteer coordinators for Farm to Pantry’s local partner, Haystack Farm. For the past six years, Bob and Amelia have harvested, gleaned, and distributed produce and flowers throughout the Sonoma Valley to those facing food insecurity.
Now collaborating with extrafood.org, local food access efforts have never been stronger! For more information or to sign up as a gleaner, grower, or to donate, please visit farmtopantry.org.
Thanks for being here,
Allison
